The Wind U135 Netbook comes in flavors of charcoal, silver, ruby, or sapphire, with a film-printed shiny coating and a new raised chiclet keyboard. A larger-sized touchpad is also included, with 160GB or 250GB hard drive, and 1GB of RAM. Windows 7 Starter on a 10-inch screen (1024×600 resolution) is driven by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N450, and mixed in are three USB ports and a 1.3 MP webcam.

The most notable hardware debut on the MSI Wind U135 is undoubtedly the new Intel Atom N450 1.66-GHz processor. Unlike the older Atom N270 and N280 chips, the newer single core N450 packs in the processor, graphics chip, and memory controller on a single die–thereby reducing its power footprint. Paired with the processor is just 1GB of DDR2 RAM (disappointing) and a 250GB hard drive.

Besides reducing power usage, the Intel platform also makes it possible for computer makers to build thinner netbooks. Intel claims the netbook platform is 60% smaller than the previous generation. The U135 is three-quarters of an inch thick at its thinnest point and weighs three pounds.
